" The Most Valuable, Premium Domain Names "

With all the headlines, and news coverage, about the record sales prices being paid, for generic domain names. One might think, these traffic favorites are the most valuable of all, the classes of domain names. In actuality though, the sales prices of the most valuable top domain names ever sold have been secretly withheld from the public. The fact is, many of the most valuable domain names never reach public auctions.

So why are we, the public, not privy to the highest prices being paid for these premium domain names? Actually it is because of a little known fact, that many of the largest corporate investors, prefer to make their purchases, of premium domain names, in strictly private transactions. These private transactions are used, to deliberately hide prices being paid for domain names. For this reason, many of the largest dollar values being paid for premium domain names, never hit the headlines, and are never reported!

Why is this so? Why do these corporate buyers and speculators not want it publicized, how truly valuable, some top domain names are? In a nutshell, they know increased competition, will inflate the market prices they pay for the names they covet. They do not want to draw any more attention to domain names, and their values, than necessary.

The last thing they want to do is compete for names they truly want and then possibly lose them to higher bidders. To avoid this they choose to operate in closed non public transactions, that are far removed from the public eye. In this cloak of secrecy, these corporate buyers, do not have to competitively bid for a rapidly disappearing pool of top domain names. This explains why they are clearly absent from most public auctions where sales prices are competitively bid and disclosed to the press and public.

In this controlled market place these professional buyers look for unique names that stand out in the crowd and signify an image that differentiates their company from the rest of the pack. They also search for names that are short, that are easy to spell and remember and at the same time describe their particular market niche with Clarity and professionalism. In short, they look for a name that makes a statement, about them and their company.

Most of the qualities these professional buyers look for in a top name can be clarified by understanding, what a premium domain name is. So lets take a look at, the actual definition, of a premium domain name. "Premium domain names are often valuable, and have particular characterizations: The names are short and memorable, may contain words that are regularly searched on search engines or keywords that help the name gain a higher ranking on search engines. They may contain generic words, so the word has more than one meaning, and they may contain typos". An excellent example of a Top premium domain name, is UseBiz.com. It fits the definition of a premium domain name perfectly, makes a statement, and in many experts opinion is truly a most unique and valuable six letter domain name.

Another good example of a previously undiscovered and unknown gem is Android.com. Google bought this name in the secondary market, from a previous owner. This name is now being developed as their flagship address, for an open source software Alliance, for the wireless industry. Now that this name, is under Googles development, we would really have a tough time valuing it, as its sales price was not revealed to the public. But we are sure its market value would be in the millions of dollars. The competition for good quality names, such as these, are increasing at a frenetic pace.

Due to this growing competition, there is an ever increasing demand for premium domain names. The catalyst, that is driving this demand, is the explosive growth of new business start ups, on the internet. This growth has been breath taking, to say the least. So much so, that the worlds one billionth website, is already in place. It took 36 years to reach this water mark! Amazingly enough, the number of web sites are expected to double, again in the next 8 years!, to two billion!

With all this expansion, the worlds major corporations, are in competition with thousands of new start up companies, who are feverishly positioning themselves to master, this thing they call e-Biz! It's no wonder that as a result of all this expansion. There is a huge pent up demand, being created for well branded, easy to spell, and remember domain names. This highly competitive market place has created an exponential increase in the values of good domain names. In fact, some premium domain names are commanding six and seven figure price tags!

The most encouraging aspect of this business, is that there are many undiscovered names that are destined to become internet powerhouses!, that are still available!, in the secondary market!. This is what makes investing in the domain name business, so exciting!. There quite simply is no glass ceiling here, and the sky truly is the limit. Now more than ever, the visionary leaders who keep their focus on investing in premium domain names, will be a part of the futures most successful investors!

For all these reasons and more the secondary market place for domain names is the fastest growing investors asset class on the planet! Our advice for any interested investors, is to start collecting and controlling the letters of the alphabet today!. One word of advice though. Look for hidden values within the secondary market and do not bother with any other extension, other than the .com extension, it's the Predominant choice for most of the worlds top corporations. That is where the real money is!.

Hello everyone. There is a lot of mis-information about the true strategic value of Domain Names or .com Business Addresses permeating the Web. So I felt I should re-post an old 2005 post of mine which follows:

"Domain Names are the KEY!!"

The strategic importance of Domain Names to modern distribution channels is just now beginning to be realized in today's global marketplace. Yet even savvy business people do not fully understand the value and strategic magnitude of Domain Names.

In fact, Domain Names are often confused with trademarks. Although they have some similarities, Domain Names in actuality are far more valuable marketing tools than most trademarks. The similarities between the two? Both the Domain Name and trademark are considered intellectual properties of a global nature. However that is where their similarities abruptly end.

The big difference? A trademark can be owned by multiple different entities, in multiple global locations, pursuing multiple businesses. A Domain Name, on the other side of the spectrum, is a one-of-a-kind, unique World Wide Web address, which can have only one controlling owner. The Domain Name commands many strategic advantages over a trademark. A trademark reveals a very limited amount of information, while the Domain Name actually "leads" the consumer or corporate buyer to an all-inclusive, information-rich website. Done successfully, the website embodies the information needed to effectively close the sale, slash prices and ultimately distribute goods and services more profitably.

These strategic advantages derived from using the Domain Name arguably position the Domain Name as the most important known key to unlock the potentially awesome marketing power of the World Wide Web.

It's a well-known fact that the companies, who discover the Holy Grail of marketing over the Internet, will be the world's leading mass marketers. To do this these companies need only to "master the first step."

And the first step or key to accessing and unleashing the power of the World Wide Web is to simply own and control the most universally recognized branding-rich Domain Name!

This old post is the truth in a nutshell! Like it or not !

I felt Domainers and Tech Crunch types should be reminded of the reality in todays Market Place.

Is the new .Co another .CON ?

In my investment banking days, I had to sit through many Dog and Pony show meetings where different presentations were made for New Investment Products by corporate sponsors. My job as an investment advisor, as I saw it, was to invest my clients money wisely in the jungles of Wall Street. I saw a litany of Marketing Ploy offerings designed mostly by Attorneys and their council whose ending results, in many cases, separated clients from their hard earned money. I became good at spotting the investments that should be avoided in the process.

Although I was careful there were always a few that slipped by my radar and I and my clients were fooled by slick presentations. This was an over riding reason for my getting out of the Industry some fifteen years ago. Now I have had close to fifteen years of experience as a DOMAINER. To make a long story short. I have seen a litany of new extension offerings and have experienced much the same results from many of these new offerings. My advise to you is steer clear of any new extensions not just the .co version. My opinion is I smell a Rat!

The Most Valuable Branded Domain Names

Internet advertising's, sixty four million dollar question is, are keyword, stand alone traffic domain names, becoming somewhat irrelavent ? This is a question that all domainers are asking themselves, because of rapidly declining pay per click revenues that they are experiencing due to the rapid policy changes in payout structures at Yahoo and Google ?

Throughout the history of marketing and commerce, which has proven to be cyclical and forever morphing, there have been many different marketing concepts that have been adopted. In fact the very early phases of marketing involved quite literally generic barrels of goods and services.

During this generic labeling of goods and services there appeared on the scene a new concept that changed marketing forever. This phase was called Product Differentiation, or branding, which created a natural need for competitors to differentiate their products from other competitors. This allowed these competitors to separate themselves from the pack by building their own unique brand. This was the birth of branding as we know it today.

It is a natural progression that we are now beginning to experience in online advertising. This natural next step is logical in the rollout phase of modern day marketing that involves online branding of domain names.

All marketing agencies need to brand so as to differentiate their clients products from their competitiors. We at USeBiz.com back in the mid nineties, placed an educated bet that there would evolve and be finally accepted another marketing doctrine called Target Market Branding.

Target Market Branding, such as eBay and USeBiz, take advantage of targeting certain market segments. More importantly Target Market Branding, supplies the branding qualities that advertising firms make their living on. We at USeBiz.com are very pleased with our portfolio which is positioned to unlock the power of online branding incorporated into a .com powerhouse address.

USeBiz.com, The First, Vertical Branded, Keyword, Media, Network

The key to unlocking the awesome power of the world wide web, is to simply own and control strategic keyword .com names. This statement has been the mantra of the growing number of investors and small business owners on the Web today. The investment class of premium .com domain names is the fastest growing investment class on the planet.

Anyone interested in joining the ranks of successful domain name investors will tell you it is the most exciting investment class that is available to investors today. The 800 pound gorilla of this investment category lies witin the .com extension. It is the extension of choice for all the worlds dominant players in the eBiz space. This extension has created more, over night millionaires than any of the other extensions combined.

The preference of most of the worlds most successful companies, has and always will be the .com extension. Even so, competing extensions like .tv and .mobi have been introduced by I.C.A.N.N. as alternatives to the .com extension, to appease the great demand pressure for good domain names. Many of these extensions have invested a lot of time and money trying to convince business owners that their extension is the extension of the future. Professional Web developers and business owners have obviously not been convinced of this.

The competition for strategically targeted keyword .com names is so fierce that large corporations have resorted to U.D.R.P. filings in order to try and steal these already leased names from legitimate paying small business lease holders. These U.D.R.P. filings are a shady way to legally steal names from their rightful owners. Most if not all U.D.R.P. filings go after the prized names in the .com extension. So as you can guess there are reasons for this preference for .com extension names and it all boils down to money.

The .com extension has become the defacto leader in Web traffic and volume business revenues, in spite of all the competing extensions advertising spin efforts to convince business owners otherwise. So we 10 years ago decided to concentrate our investments in the .com extension. We ,luckily, put together a marketing strategy to take advantage of the awsome marketing power of the world wide Web staying within the dominant marketing channel of the .com extension.

The strategy we chose incorporates key word .com names and has evolved into what we have come to call premium, Vertical, Branded, Key Word, Domain Names. It was a simple idea and it has been said by others down through history, that sometimes the simplest ideas are the best ideas.

Here is an encapsulated explanation of the srategy. As we said we have incorporated key words with a short memorable branding handle. The branding handle we chose, for obvious reasons, was eBiz . So for example we chose the keyword of US, and came up with USeBiz.com.

There you have it. A Vertical, Branded, Key Word domain name. Does this sound like an answer to mass market goods and services over the World Wide Web ? We think the future holds great promise for people who have been creative within the .com extension. The beauty of these names we have created, take advantage of the power of Targeted Key Words and of course the awsome strategic power of the top ranked .com extension.

Most Valuable .COM Names

Follow the money and you will wind up in the .com extension. The worlds largest corporations do most of their business there. Even so competing extensions like .mobi have been introduced as alternatives to appease the great demand for domain names. Many of these extensions have invested a lot of money and time trying to convince you they are the extension of the future. Professional web developers have not been convinced.

The fact that the 800 pound Gorilla .com extension has very few unleased names available, has been putting ICANN in the heated spotlight of pressure from the web development community, to somehow make it easy for certain companies to somehow legally steal these .com leases from current payed leaseholders. Their argument is that they want the more valuable .com extensions to be available to their clients, to be developed the way they see fit. Never mind the rights of the current lease holders.

Sounds illegal doesn't it ? The current small business lease holders are up in arms and fighting mad about large predator corporations being able to legally file U.D.R.P. complaints that in 85% of the cases are effective in stealing away the rights of paying lease holders rights to their web site names.

These corporate predators are being told to look in other extensions for the names they covet and they are not having any of it. They would rather attempt to steal the names they lust after, from current paying lease holders, using the seemingly illegal and amorale U.D.R.P. process.

This questionable practice which is somehow legal, is used by corporations to bully current lease holders into giving up their addresses. It is in fact in many cases a form of reverse hyjacking or cyber stealing of paying lease holders valuable domain names. We feel U.D.R.P. filings are a legal disgrace that allows bigger corporations to steal small business owners rights to leased names they are paying for legally.

SNOWE LAND GRAB BILL

Those who are keen in finding the truth such as yourself will find it.Those who are in severe denial will have a hard time getting their arms around the truth. The Snowe Bill is a grim reminder of the past.

The truth is, All property owners through out history have had to protect their rights to ownership. Ask native Americans and you will get just some of the answers that are available to anyone interested in reality based facts of property ownership. A most helpfull read on this subject is, "A Peoples History of the United States 1492 to present" by Howard Zinn.
Getting back to the subject at hand, lets face it we need to work together to create a safety net designed to repel greedy masters who want our properties.

We all should consider supporting the I.C.A. that was birthed to protect all web based businesses from the larger predators up the food chain.
Anyone who would consider a fund raisng initiative with the URL of " HelpRaiseFunds.com" something worth while let me know of your interest in communally developing it for the I.C.A. I can be reached through a link on my website. Or directly contact http://www.internetcommerce.org/

Autograph.com Sells for 55 M Usd.

Gee I wonder what a well funded advertising company would sell this name for, to an end user client? Probably a ten fold premium, I’d guess. Makes you wonder how really valuable direct navigation names are?
Maybe someone on this forum has a calculator handy. What is 5 % of the on line advertising Industry? That is the low low end of just the direct navigation industries, slice of the pie that we eat. This slice of the pie is only going to get larger, as the public starts getting wise on how to dial up companies addresses directly. Great Industry to be in right ?
Would you imagine in your wildest dreams someone wanting those kinds of dollars for themselves, and all they have to do is pick off small holders one by one and in so doing setting precedence as they go. Knowing that if the Snowe bill passes the take gets bigger. On top of this the small business owners have no $ coming in 24/7 to protect their interests, because knowone cares to pool assets to fund a passage residual income source used to protect their turf?
Our competition employs professional fund raisers, with a planned systematic approach to change our addresses to theirs. Its been going on now since I’ve been in the business for as long as I can remember.
The ad companies aren’t pushing direct navigation because they don’t control the addresses. They will not quit, without a fight. Please support a fund raising initiative for the I.C.A. “HelpRaiseFunds.com “
Media Shift from S.E.O. to Direct Navigation

According to some sources. Online advertising is starting to slow down, or is it ? It is still growing at a double digit growth rate, but there are signs that it is starting to slow down. Ad revenue in 2007 grew 18.8% to $3.2 billion compared to 2.6 Billion in 2006. Even so there are definite signs at Google and Yahoo this week that the numbers are going South. There may be a logical explanation for all of this. Could it be a paradigm shift in the marketplace ?

Is S.E.O. slowly losing ground to direct dial or direct navigation? Slow but sure net denizens are catching on to the fact that they can often take short cuts to get to what they are after, very similar to going to the yellow pages index to find keywords. Then just type up what you are really after. Here is an example, interested in Widgets, Business, Wine, ...........then just type in ...........Keyword .com ? See, you get the real deal, not what the search engines cook up for you. There, now was that a lot faster ? Yes it cuts to the chase, Mikey Likes It !

This just might be the wave of the future. Are you sure ? It makes way too much sense to me. In other words what you are saying is we the consumers will not have to be lead through a Pitch laden path of pop ups and what not, and get quickly to what we are after ? Yes I am sure. Last time I checked it worked much more efficiently for me, and best of all it saved me time and frustration. Wow Revolutionary !

As this trend continues to take hold what do you think the major Media companies will do? Well word has it that they are buying up the better names out there. What would you suggest for people who are in control of the better names ? Hold on the future looks bright.

" Attack of The Android or Android to the Rescue ? "

We all have been watching with great interest, Googles latest preemptive launch of its open source Android platform, designed to revolutionize all of our wireless experiences. Buried underneath it all, is a battle for an open source, wireless internet world, supported by Google or a closed source, wireless internet world, manipulated by Microsoft.

I have never been a supporter of Microsoft, whose strategy for growth has always been based on controlling the consumer rather than servicing them. The ramifications of this latest chapter in the Star Wars like battle between these two companies is just another example why Googles organic growth will inevitably surpass Microsofts.

My gut feeling tells me that Android will be wildly successful. You only have to look at the historical track record of open source creativity, versus the closed source protectionist philosophy, to realize the most probable outcome.

History also demonstrates very clearly that closed source software platforms inhibit innovation and creativity, not to mention competition. Consumers crave a platform that involves their active participation in the creative process involved with their web experience!

My fear along with others is that the closed source gang is well entrenched in the wireless industry already. They look at this latest preemptive strike by Googles Android as a threat to their beloved monopoly. Companies that are missing from the Android initiative such as, A T&T and Verizon Wireless, Nokia, Apple, Blackberry and others make me wonder about their committment to serve the consumer?

We as Domainers and consumers have a responsibility for supporting all open source intiatives, whose end result speeds up innovation lowers costs and provides a service to all. We all deserve a robust wireless internet experience. We all need to send a signal to these holdout companies, that we are not going to take it anymore!. Yes even if it means not buying an I-phone!

" The 800 Pound Gorilla of US e-Biz"

It's a jungle out there!, and there's Billionaires afoot, eagerly awaiting the chance to get their sites honed in on the next 800 pound Gorilla of the world wide web. The stakes are high and the rewards are staggering. What could possibly entice the likes of Rupert Murdoch and Google to don safari attire?

It's simple really, They are just recent examples of investors eager to stake their claim in the fastest growing asset class on the planet! They along with legions of others have decided to join the exclusive club of domainers, which by definition is the hottest business of buying, selling, and monetizing internet domain names, which are the foundation of the greatest wealth building machine on record.

There has never been a time in history, up until the creation of domain names, that you could own and control letters of the alphabet!. Some of the worlds savviest investors have figured this out, and are making millions from this monopoly game, called domain name investment.

This jungle of opportunity, has produced some of the worlds largest corporations including Microsoft and Google. These companies became media giants, because of the fact that they followed a path to riches, based on an organic growth principle. These principles created the foundation that is accessed by a key coding system, better known as a domain name. Quite simply if you own and control the letters of the alphabet that are contained in the domain name, you are in total control, which explains why domain names are todays hottest commodities.

" Media Typo Mistakes "

What are the chances that you or anyone else for that matter would type in Hulu, over say, a REAL WORD site like Yahoo or eBay ? Slim to nothing right, because people type in key words when searching for a site.

My point being, time and again, seemingly savvy, large corporate players will gamble on a .com typo address, such as Hulu, to launch their business hopes on.
What would cause someone in charge of launching a web start up company to blow away any chance of capturing 10-20% type in traffic ?

Believe it or not their B-School training has always insisted on heavy advertising for any new business launch! This approach may have worked 30 years ago before the internet dramatically changed the playing field.

Old line Advertising firms still preach that to launch a business you need to pay them vast amounts of money for a prolonged period of time on an advertising campaign. This siren song has caused many internet start up companies to wind up on the rocks. It is a seriously flawed approach.

So if your goal is to be successful in the highly competitive launch of an internet business. Use the same money you would otherwise spend on an advertising budget, instead, on a keyword, targeted address, preferably a .com address, from a domainer. Yes I said make your purchase from a Domainer.

The truth is all the A list domain names worth considering, already belong to them. Now I know for some of you control freak Masters of the Universe, this is difficult. After all rewarding someone for choosing a life of creationism over a life based on the traditional B-School Ethos is quite hard on the EGO. Especially when you feel you've been beaten to the punch.

My professional advice to you is, get over it, and spend your money wisely on a world class .com address. Your chances of success on the e-Biz platform dramatically Increase. Granted, typo name addresses are cheap! but remember if you buy your .com address on the cheap, guess what your image is?

" Branded Networks "

The beauty of the Web, is that there's no better environment for creative networking. So why not grow with the flow and utilize the Webs synergies to your advantage by creating a Branded Network of Businesses. Organic growth plays to a start up companies advantage, something the major media companies still do not get!

Furthermore We all know that Industry segments run hot and cold. So to run on all eight cylinders you need to position your company to take advantage of the cyclical nature of all markets worldwide. If you own a network of businesses, you need only to target your ad focus on the hot industries, and adjust your inventories accordingly. Who's currently doing this effectively? Its still a wide open field as far as the eye can see. Someone will step to the plate, who will it be?
Stay tuned we are scanning the horizon for that opportunity.

" US e-Biz is on Fire "

Gadzooks Batman are you telling me I can invest under $10 and be in an investment pool that Donald Trump is in? Yes Robin!, Follow me I'll show you how!
